Abita Brewing Company, Abita Springs, LA
Abita Wrought Iron IPA embodies the resilient, indestructible nature of New Orleans. This India pale ale is forged with the intensity of Apollo, Equinox, and Mosaic hops. Brewed with pale ale malt for a golden color as bright as iron from a fiery forge.
Note: Abita is changing their beer labels and it appears we grabbed an “older model” for the Wrought Iron. Please refer to the website listed below for a picture of the updated label.
Wrought Iron IPA smells of fruit and hops. Fruit hits your palate first, followed by a lingering bitter aftertaste. It is more bitter than the Restoration Pale Ale, but that isn’t saying much. It is still more fruity than bitter. It is smooth and drinkable though.
Abita beers seem to aim for the middle – never too fruity, never too bitter, always in the safe middle. None of the Abita beers are BAD, just safe.
Would we have it again? YES
Would we get a 6-pack? For Mardi Gras!
