Covington Brewhouse, Covington, LA
It’s the type of beer that’s always a step ahead, playing games with your taste buds, eluding your expectations before you can even articulate them. It’s a beer that refuses to be written off, teasing you with an amazing hop aroma and a burst of the hoppiness you want in an IPA, then balancing out nicely with a smooth maltiness. So, sit back and enjoy the show.
Covington’s Anonymous IPA is amber in color and smells like malt. It also tastes malty. The hops are all over the place. Father Jack thinks that the hops punch through in the middle, then die away, but Large Marge thinks the hops never quite make their way through the malt. This is by far the maltiest IPA we’ve ever had.
Would we have it again? We prefer a hoppier IPA.
