SweetWater Goin’ Coastal IPA with Pineapple

SweetWater Brewing Company, Atlanta, GA

Slide into summer and step off the grid by Goin’ Coastal with this pineapple laced IPA.  The bright aromas of the five citrus hop additions are accentuated by the tropical fruit of the pineapple — and just like those three day weekends, its finish is quick.

6.1% ABV

Clear amber in color with a faint nose of pineapple.  Starts pineapple-y then the malt kicks in.  It is very interesting and not bad per se.  Pineapple is subtle, much like the blueberry in SweetWater Blue.  We are unsure why this is labelled an IPA as there is slight bitterness at the end, but does not seem like any IPA we have ever had.  In the end the beer is disjointed: starts fruity, then dominated by malt and ends with some bitterness.  Now we know what a pineapple beer is like, though.

Would we have it again?  No
