Robinson’s Brewery, Stockport, UK
Old Tom is a legend amongst ales. First created by the Robinson family in 1899. It is a wonderfully warming dark ale, with aromas of dark fruit and a palate booming with ripe malt and hops. Not surprisingly Old Tom has won almost every brewing accolade including being voted The World’s Best Ale.
Brown in color with a nose of malty sweetness. Sweet on the palate, but not cloying. Good malty base which holds up well under the sweetness. Simple and very drinkable. We believe this would be a good winter beer to curl up with by the fire. Also, this would make a good dessert beer.
Would we have it again? Yes, but probably not until after the weather has cooled off a bit…
