New Belgium Pumpkick

What’s that bite of tartness doing in a pumpkin beer?  Adding the unexpected kick of cranberry juice to brighten this tradionally spiced seasonal ale.  Pumpkick is brewed with plenty of pumpkin juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, but it’s the cranberries and touch of lemongrass that will have you hunt and pecking for more.

6% ABV

Hazy amber/orange in color with a nose of a spice rack.  Also tastes like a spice rack up front, but taste dies at the end leaving virtually no aftertaste.  This is the first “pumpkin beer” we have ever tried and not at all what we expected.  Not a bad beer, but we could not drink a lot of this as there is just too much spice.  We recommend this to people who want to know what it is like to drink a spice rack.

Would we have it again?  No

I love pumpkin, but have trouble finding pumpkin beers I like. Looks like you guys have the same problem. I’ve had some pumpkin sours that were good.
